Yep! That's right!
International Babywearing Week!
There's a month or a week dedicated to everything.
I'm not complaining, that just means more opportunities to enter into giveaways everywhere!
Now, some of you may be unaware of the term babywearing, which is...
Well... Wearing your baby or kiddo!
This is often times in the form of woven wraps, wraps that stretch, ring slings, jersey wraps/ slings for water time, mei tais and carriers that buckle.
I always knew about baby carriers and such, but I came across the term babywearing within a thread while doing some google searches on crying/ colicky babies.
Google always has my back! Most of the time...
Anyways, my Son Bun was barely a month old, and I was searching for more ways than what I could think of to soothe him.
He had quite the "pair of lungs" as a newborn, and it seemed like I was failing at life every time he cried, and every second felt like lightyears.
I'm telling you, I felt so bad, holding him, loving on him, yet feeling helpless.
It wasn't his cry that bothered or annoyed me, it was, what I felt at the time, my lack of ability as a mommy to figure out what was wrong.
Nothing too complex or out of the ordinary. So Simple.
He was yearning to relive the womb experience. He missed being squished up in my belly, listening to my heartbeat and breathing patterns.
I wonder if he always heard me throwing up...?
Guess, it doesn't matter, but what did matter was the bond and closeness that babywearing reinforced.
There was no empty space between the two of us,
And still until this day, 4 months later, it's his favorite place to be.
Quite frankly, it's my favorite place for him to be.
Right next to my heart.
Moral of the story is that babywearing is a mega-lifesaver
For both baby and momma. Oh! Daddies too, for you single daddies!
Last but not least, something I find very funny is the amount of men that practically start swooning over Li'el while I carry him in his wrap.
I've seen men who actually seem to get emotionally connected, second handed, from witnessing my babywearing experience.
The wrap!
There's just something a little different and special about the wrapping.
Okay, so now you're wondering about how you can start your babywearing journey.
I've got thee answer.
